Appreciation for Atiku’s Dedication to PDP’s Cause – Farah

Reflecting on the outcomes of the 98th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Rivers State National Assembly member, Dagogo Farah, lauds the party’s resilience in the face of challenges.

Prior to the meeting, there were discussions on the leadership transition in the North Central Zone after Iyiorchia Ayu’s term was cut short, causing some concerns.

Post the meeting, Farah acknowledged the sacrifices made in a timely manner by those who prioritize the party’s interests.

The former House of Representatives representative for Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency under the PDP highlighted the political maturity of leaders such as former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for preventing potential crises.

In a statement released on Thursday by his Media and Publicity Advisor, Farah expressed confidence that Umar Damagum, the Acting Chairman, would understand by the adjourned August meeting that stepping down for a more effective and results-driven leadership is paramount for the party’s progress.

Farah remarked, “The outcome of the NEC Meeting was a victory for everyone. Despite the odds, the party emerged unscathed and will only grow stronger.

“While the Acting Chairman remains in position, it is now evident to him and others that his resignation for a more purposeful and results-oriented leadership in August would serve the party’s best interests.

“The purported tension leading up to the NEC Meeting was fueled by the selfish ambitions of a few individuals seeking to disrupt the call by loyal party members for a reevaluation of the failing leadership and lack of direction.

“However, the Party did not fall into the trap set by these individuals aiming for the party’s implosion to further their political gains, thanks largely to the political maturity and astuteness exhibited by the Party’s National Leader and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and other leaders before and during the NEC Meeting. Our current standing is a result of their sacrifices and commitment to the party.”
