Enhanced Security Measures by Police and NSCDC in Abia State

Abia State security agencies are fully prepared to ensure a safe environment for the upcoming Easter celebrations in 2024. The state’s police command, represented by ASP Maureen Chinaka on behalf of Commissioner of Police Kenechukwu Onwumelie, has activated an Operation Order to guarantee security during this period.

Commissioner Onwumelie stated that the deployment of officers and implementation of security measures are underway to safeguard residents and public spaces in Abia State throughout the Easter festivities. The authorities are conducting regular and special patrols, combining covert and overt activities to ensure a smooth celebration.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station to help maintain security.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Commandant, Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, also reassured the people of Abia State regarding the security of lives and properties during this period. Following a review meeting, he instructed the command’s officials to ensure a successful Easter Celebration by intensifying security measures at various strategic locations.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to global best practices while carrying out duties and warned of disciplinary actions for any misconduct. As Christians observe the Easter celebration, he urged them to embody the values of sacrifice, peace, and love exemplified by Jesus Christ and take this time for introspection and prayer.

Alfadarai solicited the public’s ongoing support through the provision of valuable information to aid security agencies in their efforts to serve the community effectively.
