Committee Formed by Gov Fintiri to Probe Yola Market Fire

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has established a 15-member committee tasked with investigating the recent devastating fire outbreak at a prominent market in Yola, the state’s capital.

The inferno, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, destroyed numerous shops and warehouses in the primary market of Yola, located in Yola South Local Government Area.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and as of Tuesday evening, the full extent of the damages had not been determined, prompting the formation of the investigative committee.

According to a statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Awwal Tukur, the committee will be led by the Commissioner of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Reintegration, and Humanitarian Services, with the executive secretary of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, ADSEMA, serving as the committee’s secretary. Other members include community and traditional leaders, security personnel, relevant government officials, and representatives of the affected traders.

After visiting the market on Monday morning, Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta pledged to take necessary actions in response to the tragedy. The establishment of the committee is a crucial step towards fulfilling this commitment.
