Ortom acknowledges Akume as his leader amidst crisis in Benue

Expressing his allegiance, Chief Samuel Ortom, former Benue State governor, affirmed that Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, remains his political mentor and leader.

During the commemoration of his 63rd birthday, which was organized by his previous appointees in Makurdi, the capital city of Benue, Ortom emphasized the current state of crisis that has enveloped the region.

He emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts from various stakeholders to tackle the challenges facing Benue under the present administration.

Ortom urged the incumbent governor, Hyacinth Alia, to set aside differences and work in unity with Akume and other key figures to enhance the development and welfare of the state.

In his address, Ortom highlighted the gravity of the situation by stating, “Benue is currently facing critical challenges that demand collective action. Now that active campaigning and legal battles have concluded, it is imperative that we join forces regardless of political differences to safeguard our people from external threats, particularly the encroachment of herdsmen.”

He further emphasized the significance of united efforts among the governor, SGF, and past and present leaders of Benue to foster progress and combat the various issues plaguing the Benue valley.
