Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo Issues Apology to Fans for UCL Red Card

Following his red card in Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg 4-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, defender Ronald Araujo expressed his regrets to the fans.

The first leg saw Barcelona secure a 3-2 victory in Paris, and they started strongly in the second leg with an early goal from Raphinha.

However, the game took a turn when Araujo was sent off in the 29th minute for a foul on Bradley Barcola just outside the box while being the last defender.

Araujo’s dismissal changed the dynamics of the match, allowing PSG to capitalize on the one-man advantage, with Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha, and Kylian Mbappe all getting their names on the scoresheet.

PSG progressed to the semi-finals with a 6-4 aggregate victory.

In a post on his Instagram account the next day, Araujo reflected, saying, “Football, which once brought me immense joy, now presents challenges. I am grateful to those unconditionally supporting me, my teammates who fought till the end, and the fans who stood by the team. We will strive again. Vamos Barca, now and forever. Trust in God’s plan.”
