Arrest of a Middle-aged Man for Extortion and Assassination Plot

An individual in his middle age was apprehended over the weekend by the Ondo State Police Command for falsely claiming to have carried out 500 assassinations.

The man in question, known as Adesina Adetokunbo, was taken into custody following reports of threats issued against owners of pure water factories within the state.

Ondo State’s Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladipupo, disclosed that Adetokunbo had contacted a certain woman, alleging that three of her employees had hired him to take her life, and demanded payment to spare her.

“On April 18, 2024, around 7:00 AM, a report was lodged with the police concerning threats to an individual’s life and attempts at extortion.

The victim narrated how she received a disturbing call from an unknown number, where the caller claimed to be an experienced assassin.

The so-called assassin boasted of a track record of over 500 killings and alleged that three of the victim’s staff had paid him to eliminate her. He insisted on a specific amount to be transferred to an account, threatening dire consequences if the demand was not met.

Out of fear, the victim transferred ₦110,000 to the provided account. Through technological assistance, Adetokunbo Adesina was apprehended. The suspect attempted to justify his actions by claiming he was ill and needed money for a surgical procedure.

He resorted to extortion as a result of not being hired by the victim to work at her pure water factory.
