FRSC arrests driver for allegedly trying to hit operative

FRSC apprehends a driver for allegedly attempting to harm an officer

For reportedly trying to hit a Federal Road Safety Corps officer after being apprehended for flouting traffic regulations, the Edo State Command of the FRSC arrested a driver known as Lucky Omomeyen.

According to reports by NewsNow, Paul Okpe, the State Sector Commander of the FRSC, revealed this information to journalists in Benin City.

The incident occurred on April 19, 2024, and the driver was apprehended six days later for his actions.

When signalled to stop by the patrol team, the driver, behind the wheels of a Toyota Camry, instead made a dangerous maneuver towards the officer.

To avoid being hit by the vehicle, the officer had to leap and cling onto the Toyota Camry.

Detailing the situation, Okpe mentioned that the officer, during a routine patrol at Ramat Park, attempted to intercept a Toyota Camry. The driver’s reckless behavior prompted the officer to jump onto the car’s hood to avoid a collision.

Instead of stopping as instructed, the driver, with the officer still clinging on, drove a distance before slowing down due to traffic conditions, giving the officer a chance to dismount. The driver then managed to evade capture.

Though the driver initially escaped, he was later arrested on separate days following the incident. Subsequently, he was handed over to the police and is now facing legal charges.
