A group of All Progressives Congress members known as Concerned APC Members (CAM) has expressed disapproval over the reported suspension of Abdullahi Ganduje, the national party chairman.
Reports suggest that Ganduje was supposedly suspended on Monday by the APC in his Ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.
However, the state party leadership has refuted the claimed suspension, labeling those responsible as impostors.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, CAM, led by Okpokwu Ogenyi, called for the immediate apprehension of the individuals behind the alleged suspension.
Ogenyi emphasized the need to hold these perpetrators accountable to prevent similar incidents in the future.
“The news of the purported suspension of our party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, by certain individuals masquerading as members of the APC from his Kano State Ward, under the guise of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), came as a shock to us,” Ogenyi expressed.
“These impostors even used the name of our party’s legal adviser in Ganduje’s ward to announce his suspension without the authorization of the said legal adviser. It is essential to note that a legal adviser lacks the authority to suspend party officials, as such powers are vested in the ward chairman.”
“Impersonation constitutes a criminal offense that carries legal consequences,” Ogenyi added.
“We urge the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of State Security Service to promptly apprehend and prosecute these impostors to deter others from engaging in such devious acts,” Ogenyi continued.
“Failure to address and penalize these impostors swiftly could set a dangerous precedent where members of other political parties may attempt to similarly suspend our President from the APC,” Ogenyi cautioned.
