A meeting was held by the Selection Committee of The Africa Road Builders – Trophy Babacar NDIAYE in the United Arab Emirates to determine the winners for the year 2024.
The main focus of this year’s discussions was the “Quality of Road Infrastructure of Africa.”
In a statement released by Mr. George Orido, the spokesperson for the Selection Committee, it was mentioned that the group thoroughly evaluated the quality of road infrastructure across the continent, referencing the 2024 report from the Media Network for Infrastructure and Finance in Africa (MIFA) and reports from international institutions and organizations regarding roads and transportation in Africa.
Following the deliberations, the Committee chose to honor two outstanding winners with the Super Prize Great Builder – Trophée Babacar NDIAYE 2024.
His Excellency Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, and His Excellency Denis Sassou-Nguesso, President of the Republic of Congo, have been selected as Laureates of the Super Prize Great Builder -Trophée Babacar NDIAYE 2024 for their exceptional leadership.
His Excellency Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo is recognized for his remarkable leadership, dedication to sustainable development, and significant accomplishments in the realm of road infrastructure within his country.
His Excellency Denis Sassou-Nguesso is acknowledged for his commitment to advancing road infrastructure and his resolute efforts to drive economic growth in Congo.
The Selection Committee applauds His Excellency Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and His Excellency Denis Sassou-Nguesso for their notable contributions to road infrastructure and invites them to receive their awards on May 30, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya, during the Final Conference coinciding with the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank, AfDB,” Orido announced.
In addition, the winners of the 2024 Builders Trophies were unveiled, including SAFER, Togo, AGEROUTE, Côte d’Ivoire, Porteo BTP, Côte d’Ivoire, and Rubis Asphalt.
Orido mentioned that all the winners are also welcome to receive their awards at the Final Conference on May 30 in Nairobi.
“The Selection Committee extends its gratitude to His Excellency Andry Rajoelina, President of the Republic of Madagascar, who was the recipient of the Super Prize Great Builder – Trophée Babacar NDIAYE 2023,” noted Orido.
Furthermore, the Selection Committee expresses its deep appreciation to the United Arab Emirates and its authorities for their hospitality, alongside extending thanks to all conference participants and sponsors.
The memory of Dr. Babacar NDIAYE, who inspired The Africa Road Builders – Trophée Babacar NDIAYE, is honored, and gratitude is extended to the Babacar NDIAYE family for their involvement.
