The impressive performance of forward Franck Mawuena in Remo Stars’ win over Rivers United has been acknowledged by the team.
In Ikenne on Monday, Mawuena both scored a goal and provided an assist in Remo Stars’ 2-1 victory against Rivers United.
Haruna Hadi equalized for Remo Stars after Andy Okpe had opened the scoring for Rivers United.
Mawuena, appearing as a second-half substitute, netted the winning goal seven minutes before the final whistle.
“After five months out due to injury, our remarkable Togolese player Franck Mawuena came off the bench to secure the victory,” a post on Remo Stars’ X account stated.
Under the leadership of Daniel Ogunmodede, Remo Stars climbed to the second spot on the leaderboard, with just one point behind the current league leaders, Rangers.
