The village of El Jocote has experienced an unusual episode, specifically in the department of Quiché (Guatemala). And the 15-year-old girl, Yuleydi Ixcotoyac, began to move and try to get up inside the coffin in which she was found during her own wake, eight hours after her family gave her up for dead. The event, which occurred last Saturday, October 10, unleashed emotion among her relatives, who observed how the minor opened her eyes and sat up in the middle of the wake that they had organized for her.
Confusion about her condition arose during the early morning, when the young woman felt unwell. For this reason, her father, Pastor Abraham Ixcotoyac, decided to urgently transfer her to a medical center. However, during the journey, he assured that the minor did not show a pulse and, therefore, the parent assumed the death of the young woman. After this, he returned to the home to prepare Yuleydi’s farewell. Eight hours later, at the wake with the open coffin, attendees noticed that the young woman, supposedly deceased, was making movements to sit up and trying to open her eyes. While the family tried to assimilate the events, they gave her water to calm the girl’s despair.
“I saw that he was not breathing and had no pulse.”
In statements to the local media TV Sac, Yuleydi herself recounted how she experienced this experience moments before losing consciousness. “My heart started to hurt too much, it felt heavy and that’s when I left, like I fainted,” the Guatemalan admitted.
Despite the impact of the case, at the moment no medical explanations have been provided to clarify what caused the young woman to faint and how she was able to remain in that state for more than eight hours. Meanwhile, the family considers it a miracle.
