The leader of Die Linke in Berlin fears for her life after leaking that her party would be controlled by Hamas: ""My husband and I are afraid"

The fear of Hamas has reached German politics. Elif Eralp, Die Linke’s candidate to govern Berlin, has said she fears for her life after some of her private notes have been published in the German magazine Der Spiegel. In them, the politician expressed her fear of publicly mentioning certain people who, according to her own words, maintained contacts with Hamas.

In these notes you can see the relationship between Die Linke, Hamas and the Arab organized crime clans. In the documents leaked by mistake, Eralp claims to fear for her safety, that of her husband and that of her two children.

An interview that ended up leaking the terror of Eralp

It all started last Monday, when Der Spiegel interviewed Eralp to find out more information about the negotiations to form a Government and the relations of some members of Die Linke with pro-Palestinian activists.

After the conversation, the magazine sent the text to its team to review the statements before publishing them: However, the version received back by the journalists contained a series of private comments from the candidate.

Some of those entries made reference to Ibrahim Ibrahim, a pro-Palestinian activist who had attended a Die Linke election celebration in Berlin. According to Der Spiegel, Ibrahim had praised Yahya Sinwar, a Hamas leader and one of those responsible for the attacks against Israel on October 7, 2023.

In the notes, Eralp asked the media to withdraw both the question about Ibrahim and his response to avoid publicly mentioning certain people.

“My husband is afraid of these people and so am I,” she wrote in one of the notes, remembering that the Berlin Criminal Police had already recommended that she avoid giving specific names.

The candidate spoke about people who had contacts with Hamas and feared that her statements could endanger her family. For this reason, the party leader raised the possibility of canceling the interview. “I cannot jeopardize my safety or that of my family for Der Spiegel. Can we cancel the entire interview?”

A controversy in full negotiation

After the publication, Eralp appeared before the media in Parliament this Thursday, ensuring that she will not allow anyone to intimidate her and defended her commitment to combat organized crime and terrorism if she governs the city.

For their part, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has questioned Die Linke’s ability to guarantee the security of Berlin and has raised the possibility of forming an alternative coalition to the Greens and the Social Democratic Party (SPD).

The three parties are preparing negotiations to form the next Government of the German capital, which will begin in the coming days if their respective internal bodies give the go-ahead.

However, Eralp’s confession complicates things even more for the mayoral candidate, since her statements admit the danger of pro-Palestinian radicalism linked to her party.

This Saturday, Die Linke will hold a congress in Berlin in which Eralp must achieve ratification of the agreement with the Greens and Social Democrats. According to German media, he will appear before the hundred delegates under police protection.
