Nicolás Maduro has reappeared after months in the United States. Specifically, he has been missing since January, the date on which he was captured in Caracas during an operation by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and where, later, he was sent to a New York prison. An arrest that has led him to be tried for narcoterrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine and possession of weapons of war.
It has been through the official profile of X (formerly Twitter) of the former leader himself where new images of the politician have been published during his confinement. Looking animated, he has published the images as a “small gift of love and hope” for, specifically, his family.
Mature, grateful and “with faith intact”
“A small gift of love and hope.” With a short and ‘nice’ phrase the Venezuelan politician began the tweet in which he published two photographs. Dressed in the tracksuit in which he was captured – an outfit that has gone viral – and with a funny gesture, Maduro has sent this “gift” to all his “grandsons and granddaughters, the boys and girls, and all the noble people who love us.” Through this post, the former leader has informed his followers that both he and his wife are “firm, with their hearts full of love,” also thanking “every word, every gesture and every blessing.”
Although all the images are dated June 25, 2026, Nicolás Maduro has concluded his message by saying that they have “intact faith in God” and that, thus, “Venezuela will be reborn.”
