Urgent News: Agatu and Apa LGAs in Benue Reportedly Under Attack by Suspected Herdsmen

Reports are coming in of a tragic incident unfolding in Agatu and Apa Local Government Areas of Benue State, as a result of suspected Fulani herdsmen launching attacks on multiple communities. The areas under siege include Odugbeho in Agatu LGA, and in Apa LGA, places such as Ikobi, Edikwu-Olekle, Opaha, and Obinda-Odugbo are currently facing aggression. Tragically, some casualties have already been reported, including individuals like Tijani Ene’Ogekwu from Odugbeho and Simon Ojiji from Ikobi. One woman named Ene Aniheli from Ikobi has suffered severe injuries and is undergoing urgent medical care. As of now, the local youth are rallying to defend their communities against these violent assaults.

Reports have emerged stating that some students who were returning from Calabar, Cross Rivers State, in a Sienna vehicle, were allegedly kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The incident took place in the Ewreni junction area along the East-West Road in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. The abduction occurred on a Friday, according to sources. The perpetrators, believed to be herdsmen, are requesting a ransom of N10 million for the release of the students.
