YWC urges security agencies to uncover backers of Oyo Secretariat invasion

Calling on security agencies to reveal the sponsors behind the recent attack on the Oyo state government secretariat, Yoruba World Congress Worldwide (YWC) issued this plea through a statement provided to NewsNow by Engineer Stephen Ajayi, the group’s Secretary General.

Over the weekend, individuals claiming to be Yoruba nation agitators forcefully entered the Oyo state Secretariat in an attempt to take over the House of Assembly.

In response to this incident, YWC urged security forces to identify the individuals responsible for sponsoring the attack.

Emphasizing the importance of apprehending the sponsors as a preventative measure, the group stressed how necessary it is to deter similar actions in the future.

“We wish to formally notify the public that Yorùbá World Congress Worldwide (YWC) disassociates itself from any acts of violence or treason that may disrupt the peace and stability of Yoruba land and Nigeria as a whole,” said YWC in their statement.

Commenting on the invasion of the Oyo State secretariat on April 13, 2024, by certain Yoruba Nation Agitators, aimed at causing chaos within Yoruba land and Nigeria, the group condemned their actions as barbaric and irresponsible.

“Yoruba World Congress Worldwide (YWC), UK, through this open letter, rejects and completely distances itself from the actions of these individuals,” the statement added.

As a preventive measure, it was advised that law enforcement agencies locate the sponsors of these criminal elements, apprehend them from their hideouts, and bring them to justice promptly,” the statement concluded.
