Yobe State: Six Alleged Thieves of Power Cables Arrested by NSCDC

In Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, operatives from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended six individuals on suspicions of power cable theft.

During a parade of the suspects in Damaturu, the State Commandant of the Corps, Adamu I. Zakari, revealed that the operatives caught them stealing armoured cables valued at N1.2 million behind the Waziri Ibrahim Housing Estate in the city.

Further investigations by the authorities uncovered three additional suspects believed to be connected to the theft.

The suspects admitted to having vandalized numerous transformers within Damaturu, including those at the federal polytechnic and Ali Marami Extension.

Similarly, residents of Nayi-Nawa Tsallake area in Damaturu captured and handed over to the corps a 34-year-old individual named Umar Mustapha from Lawanti ward, caught in the act of vandalizing a substation.
