Yobe Lawmakers Urge Gov. Buni to Support Kidney Transplant Patients

Calling for immediate action, the Yobe State House of Assembly has urged the executive branch to provide assistance to kidney transplant patients within the state.

During a session, legislators representing various constituencies such as Machina, Damaturu central, Bade West, and Mamudo, including Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, Mohammed Isa Bello, Kachalla Ajiya Maina, and Sanda Kara Bade, raised the issue.

Emphasizing the growing number of kidney transplant cases in the state, the lawmakers highlighted the crucial need for governmental, philanthropic, and other donor support to help these patients secure vital medication.

Given the expensive nature of the drugs, which kidney transplant patients rely on for survival, the legislators pointed out the necessity for aid, especially amidst the prevailing economic challenges.

In support of the motion, representatives from Gujba, Jakusko, and Bursari constituencies, including Bulama Bukar, Adamu Dala Dogo, and Babagana Zanna, praised the motion’s significance, calling for prompt action from the government.

Assuring proactive measures, the House speaker, Chiroma Buba Mashio, stated that the legislative body would work hand in hand with the executive arm to find sustainable solutions to the issue of kidney disease in the state.
