Woman who poured hot water on co-wife receives jail sentence

Following the incident where a 28-year-old housewife named Faith Felix poured hot water on her co-wife, a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada, Abuja, has sentenced her to eight months in prison.

Residing in Gosa Toge along the airport road in the FCT, she was convicted and sentenced for criminal force, assault, and causing grievous hurt. She pleaded for leniency during the court proceedings.

The sentence, imposed by Senior Magistrate N.A. Turkur, includes eight months of imprisonment with no option for a fine. The convict was also cautioned to abstain from such acts and maintain good behavior.

On May 2, the complainant Stella Jecus, residing at the same address, reported the incident to the police. The prosecuting counsel, Dabo Yakubu, informed the court that the convict poured hot water on the complainant while she was asleep without any justification.

During the police investigation, the convict admitted to deliberately carrying out the act, as highlighted by Yakubu. The offense is in violation of Sections 267, 268, and 247 of the Penal Code.
