The compulsory weekly ticketing for Keke NAPEP riders has been suspended by the Abia IRS following protests

Abia State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) announced the suspension of the compulsory weekly ticket payments for Keke NAPEP operators, commercial vehicle operators, and motorcyclists. The decision, signed by Professor Udochukwu Ogbonna, the executive chairman of AIRS, is effective immediately.

According to a press release by the AIRS chairman, the agency reconsidered the previous decision based on feedback received from stakeholders. The daily ticket feature on the e-ticketing applications will continue to be available, with all vendors and app providers instructed to maintain this feature.

While the daily ticket feature remains in place, the monthly ticket arrangement remains unchanged.

Stakeholders attribute the suspension to feedback received, while Keke NAPEP operators believe it was a result of their peaceful protests in Umuahia and at the Abia State Government house. The operators expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for his prompt intervention and pledged continued support for his administration.
