Peter Obi Reveals Reasons for Not Constructing New Schools in Anambra During His Tenure as Governor

The former Governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has addressed the criticism regarding his administration’s lack of new school construction during his tenure.

Reno Omokri, a prominent social media figure, recently criticized Obi for not initiating any new school projects during his eight years in office. He went as far as offering a reward to anyone who could provide evidence of a school built by Obi.

Obi responded to these claims at a press conference held in Abuja, stating that those making the accusations had not acquainted themselves with his agenda.

He explained that upon assuming office, Anambra’s educational system was in disarray, with schools shut down and the state ranked 26th in the country. By the end of his tenure, Anambra had climbed to the top spot in educational performance.

According to Obi, his focus was on enhancing the quality of education, improving infrastructure, and ensuring the well-being of the residents. His priority was revitalizing existing schools rather than constructing new ones, likening the situation to prioritizing internal roads over coastal developments.
