President Donald Trump called for the “immediate firing” of host Jimmy Kimmel, after his wife Melania asked ABC to take action against the comedian for a skit in which he made comments about the president and the first lady.
“Jimmy Kimmel should be fired immediately by Disney and ABC,” Trump said on his Truth Social network, and stated that what the comedian said on his show last Thursday is “a despicable call for violence.”
During Thursday’s broadcast of his program “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” he performed a parody of what he would say if he were the comedian chosen to host the dinner for the correspondents who cover the White House, which the president attended for the first time with his wife Melania and several agency heads of his cabinet, which was not to the liking of the first lady.

Melania considers what Kimmel said to be “rhetoric of hate and violence” and that ABC, the network that broadcasts the program, should take action.
“Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, she has a glow like that of an expectant widow,” is among the comments he made in his parody about the dinner, which was repudiated by both the first lady and the president.
“A day later, a lunatic tried to enter the ballroom of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, armed with a shotgun, a pistol and several knives. He was there for a very obvious and sinister reason. I understand that so many people are outraged by Kimmel’s despicable call for violence and that normally they would not react to anything he said,” Trump said on his social network.
However, he assured that on this occasion “it is something that goes far beyond what is acceptable” and requested his dismissal from Disney, the network that owns ABC.
Last year, ABC suspended Kimmel’s show after comments he made about Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist murdered on September 10, after which the president demanded his dismissal.
