Warning from Osun Amotekun about Unlawful Gatherings

In response to the Yoruba Nation agitation, the Osun Amotekun Corps has issued a caution against any unauthorized gatherings.

Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, rtd, the Corps Commander, delivered this warning in Osogbo on Monday.

Discussing the security outfit’s preparations to maintain safety amidst the renewed Yoruba Nation agitation, Adewinmbi emphasized that Amotekun would not permit any group protests within the state.

He stated, “There is no Yoruba Nation agitation here in Osun. Amotekun will not tolerate any Yoruba Nation demonstrations in this state. The objectives they are pushing for have already been indirectly met.”

“The president, Senator Bola Tinubu, is Yoruba. They are advocating for a Yoruba Nation, and with a Yoruba man leading Nigeria, the country is essentially a Yoruba Nation indirectly now.”

“They must not sow seeds of insecurity here or cause chaos to divert the president’s focus. Let him concentrate on governance.”

“He has been empowered by God, and he knows how to utilize it for the welfare of all, not just the Yoruba. Let’s give him the opportunity.”

“They should shelve the Yoruba Nation agitation for the time being. It is unnecessary. Only those who oppose progress would engage in such agitation.”

Recall that suspected Yoruba Nation agitators, disguised in military attire and armed, had stormed the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, last Saturday.

Subsequently, 20 of these agitators, including a lecturer, were apprehended by the police.

Following this incident and to prevent similar occurrences in the state, Governor Ademola Adeleke instructed his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Samuel Ojo, to immediately deploy joint security teams.

These teams are responsible for safeguarding key government facilities such as the State Government Secretariat, Government House, and the headquarters of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation.

Yemisi Opalola, the Osun State Police Command spokesperson, confirmed the command’s awareness of the Ibadan incident and affirmed their readiness to foil any unlawful activities regardless of the perpetrators’ stature.
