LAUTECH clarifies: Victim of police shooting not affiliated with the university

In a recent statement, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso emphasized that the individual reportedly killed by a policeman is not a student of the institution.

The university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Akin Fadeyi, confirmed this during a conversation with NewsNow on Tuesday evening.

An earlier report from NewsNow had indicated that a student was fatally shot by a policeman, resulting in injuries to two others.

However, Fadeyi clarified that the tragic incident did not take place on the university campus.

He mentioned, “As per the information we received, the incident occurred around 2 am, outside the institution premises. It happened at a club, and in LAUTECH, we do not have any club or hotel.”

He continued, “It seems there was a confrontation at a nightclub, not affiliated with the university, which led to the unfortunate loss of life. The victim was not one of our students. Therefore, this event is unrelated to LAUTECH and our ongoing convocation activities.”

It was reported that individuals were involved in a dispute at a nightclub situated far away from the university grounds, with one tragic fatality.
