US denies involvement in Israel’s retaliation bombing of Iran

The United States has made clear that it was not part of the retaliatory strike on Iran carried out by Israel.

Following Tehran’s recent attack on Israel, Israel launched a bombing raid on Iran on Friday.

Reports from Iranian state media indicated that Iranian forces had taken out drones, suspected to be Israeli, near an army base in Isfahan.

This action set off air defense systems, resulting in explosions in the vicinity.

A senior US official shared with CNN that Israel had communicated its plans to retaliate against Iran to the US, but it was not approved by the US.

“We did not endorse the retaliation,” stated the official as reported by CNN.

Another high-ranking US official reiterated to CNN that the US did not authorize Israel’s response.

The White House and President Joe Biden have not yet issued an official statement regarding Israel’s bombing of Iran in retaliation.

Joe Biden had cautioned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the previous week about the US not participating in a retaliatory strike against Iran.

Despite this, Netanyahu and his administration pushed for a strike after Israel was targeted by drones and missiles.
