Update: Former Rivers Attorney-General Rejects Recent Appointment in Wike vs Fubara Dispute

The rejection of the redeployment as Commissioner for Special Duties by Zacchaeus Adangor, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Rivers State has caught attention.

Following his decision, Zacchaeus also submitted his resignation from the state executive council.

This development comes after his initial resignation as the state’s Attorney-General on 14 December amidst the clash between Governor Sim Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.

Notably, Zacchaeus and several other commissioners stepped down during the political turmoil in the state, but were later reinstated by the state House of Assembly.

In a recent cabinet reshuffle, Fubara reassigned Zacchaeus to the role of Commissioner for Special Duties within the Governor’s Office.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the Rivers State government, Zacchaeus expressed his refusal to accept the new position.

In his resignation letter, Zacchaeus, a staunch supporter of Wike, accused Governor Fubara of interfering with his duties as Attorney General of the state.
