News Alert: Rivers State Crisis Escalates as Attorney-General Rejects Redeployment and Resigns from Cabinet

The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Rivers State, Zacchaeus Adangor, has declined his new role as Commissioner for Special Duties. Additionally, Zacchaeus has submitted his resignation from the state executive council.

It is worth noting that Zacchaeus previously resigned from his position as Attorney-General of the state on 14 December amidst the conflict between Governor Sim Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Following the political turmoil in the state, Zacchaeus and other commissioners who had stepped down were later reinstated by the state House of Assembly.

Earlier this week, Governor Fubara made changes to his cabinet and reassigned Zacchaeus to the role of Commissioner for Special Duties within the Governor’s Office.

In a letter seen by NewsNow and directed to the Secretary to the Rivers State government, Zacchaeus firmly declined his new assignment.

Zacchaeus, a staunch supporter of Wike, alleged in his resignation letter that Governor Fubara had been obstructing his work as the Attorney General of the state.
