Unilorin VC, Egbewole: Semester Exams Unaffected by NASU, SSANU Strike

During the recent 7-day warning strike by non-academic staff in public universities, ongoing semester exams at the University of Ilorin proceeded without disruption.

Speaking at a Ramadan Iftar event for journalists on the university’s main campus, Vice Chancellor Prof. Wahab Egbewole commended the unions and staff for their cooperation, emphasizing their dedication to ensuring a smooth exam process.

Prof. Egbewole noted, “Our unions are composed of responsible members whose primary focus is the welfare of our students. Despite the strike, exams proceeded seamlessly with the assistance of non-striking unions.”

Reiterating the university’s commitment to its ‘Smart Agenda’, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the need for an enabling environment to support learning and innovation.

Notable achievements highlighted by Prof. Egbewole include the completion of the Chemical Engineering building, renovation of facilities, construction of new hostels, and recruitment of 201 academic and non-teaching staff.

Looking towards global competitiveness, he stressed the importance of innovation and self-sustainability for the university to thrive on the global stage.
