Two suspected kidnappers shot dead by police, 3 Indians rescued in Ogun

In a recent gunfight along the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode-Benin expressway, the Ogun State Police Command eliminated two individuals believed to be involved in kidnapping activities targeting travelers.

SP Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson, shared this development in a statement issued on Tuesday.

During a coordinated operation to rescue a group of abducted Indian nationals, the suspects met their demise at the hands of law enforcement officers.

Making use of local vigilantes for support, the police successfully retrieved the Indian citizens, identified as Tejaram Chauhan, Kaduwal Pradhan, and Medani Kathiwada, who were taken captive on Friday.

An amount totaling N7.9 million alongside 1,500 Indian Rupees, suspected to be part of the ransom collected by the abductors, was also seized.

Odutola detailed an incident where the Manager of Breeze Company Nigeria Limited, situated along the Ibadan-Lagos expressway, urgently contacted the Divisional Police Officer at Mowe Divisional Headquarters following an attack by a gang of kidnappers at Kajola junction on the Sagamu – Siun-Abeokuta expressway targeting two vehicles transporting company officials.

The manager reported that the police escorting the first vehicle (with plate number FST 686 YH) engaged in a shootout with the perpetrators, enabling the passengers to escape unharmed.

As a result, three Indian nationals in the second vehicle, without police protection, were abducted and taken to an undisclosed location.

Following the distress call, the anti-kidnapping unit joined forces with neighboring police units and local security teams to conduct a thorough search operation in the area.
