Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe Takes Responsibility for UCL Exit

Shouldering the blame for Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League elimination, Kylian Mbappe, the team’s forward, spoke out following their defeat.

In the semifinal clash against Borussia Dortmund, PSG bowed out with a 2-0 aggregate loss, suffering a 1-0 defeat in the second leg played in front of their home crowd.

Mbappe acknowledged that the outcome was a result of missed opportunities, some of which he was responsible for.

Despite dominating possession with almost 70% and attempting 30 shots in the second leg, PSG hit the woodwork on four occasions.

Reflecting on the match, Mbappe commented, “I did my best to support my team, but it wasn’t sufficient.

“When it comes to effectiveness in the penalty area, the blame falls on me. I am expected to be the one who finds the net and makes an impact.

“In times of success, I bask in the spotlight, but in moments of defeat, I am willing to accept the criticism. That’s just how it is.

“I had the first clear chance to score tonight. Such is life, and we must move forward, both myself and the team,” Mbappe remarked following the match at Parc des Princes.
