Two individuals held for offering bribes to police in Ekiti

Recently, two individuals named Kayode Seun and Godwin Festus were taken into custody by the Ado-Ekiti magistrates court on charges of conspiracy, fraud, cybercrime, and attempting to bribe police officers.

During the court proceedings, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the prosecutor, presented compelling evidence justifying the remand of Kayode Seun and Godwin Festus. The individuals are suspected of colluding to perpetrate fraud and were caught in possession of a Mercedes Benz CLA car believed to be stolen.

Furthermore, the prosecutor claimed that on April 22, 2024, at 11am in Ikere-Ekiti, the defendants allegedly tried to offer a bribe of N485,000 to police officers.

It was noted in court that the legal representative for the defendants, Iyanu Olumuagun, withdrew her appearance due to personal reasons.

In the ruling by Magistrate A. O. Owoleso, it was ordered that a hearing notice be served to the defendants through the officials of the same correctional center, and the case was adjourned until June 6.
