Two Arrested Over Illegal Registration of APC Members in Preparation for Ondo State Governorship Primaries

On Wednesday, the Ondo State Police Command apprehended two individuals for their alleged involvement in the unauthorized registration of All Progressives Congress (APC) members ahead of the party’s governorship primaries scheduled for April 20.

The suspects were found in possession of APC registration booklets, a list containing names of supposed party members from Ward 7 in Ondo, and passport photos of various individuals.

The arrest occurred at the residence of Ariyo, a transport operator based in Ondo town, the headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area.

Prior to the arrest, seven APC governorship aspirants raised concerns about suspected plans to create counterfeit membership cards to influence the upcoming primaries.

Providing information on the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, mentioned that the suspects were apprehended based on a tip-off received by investigators.

Odunlami-Omisanya also stated that the police had initiated an investigation to determine the scope of the illicit activities and identify any potential accomplices.

“Two suspects are currently in custody and are cooperating with the police to locate other individuals involved in this misconduct.
