Reports have emerged stating that two Agatu youths were ambushed and killed by unidentified gunmen late on Wednesday, May 7th, 2024.
The victims, identified as Isaac Adanu and Cletus Ojotu from Odejo Community, were attacked while on their way back home from Makurdi along the Ogbaulu-Odugbeho road.
At present, those accountable for this horrific act and the motive behind it remain unidentified. However, an individual from Odejo Community, preferring anonymity, pointed fingers at the Ogbaulu community, suggesting they might be responsible.
According to the source, “Ogbaulu people have been blaming our community for the deaths of their three youths last week and have apparently been plotting retaliation for the last four days.”
The Agatu LGA has been witnessing a surge in killings by unknown gunmen, particularly among the three neighboring communities.
With this recent incident, the tally of youths who have fallen victim to unknown gunmen rises to 9.
It is worth noting that unknown gunmen have recently taken the lives of seven youths from the Ogbaulu community in separate attacks. The deceased were identified as Edoh Alhassan, Echewija Edoh, Simon Emmanuel, Annes Salihu, David Simon, Adanu Nathan, and Idu Ohili from Egba.
