Successful Operation: Troops Thwart Terrorist Attack and Intercept Suspected Gun Runners in Adamawa


Together with the Civilian Joint Task Force, the Nigerian Army’s troops engaged in Counter-terrorism operations in North East Nigeria have effectively intercepted a group of terrorists en route to carry out an attack in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Highlighted in a recent post on the Army’s X account, the troops, during a patrol near Wuro Jabbe, encountered the terrorists who were planning to target the community.

Engaged in a fierce firefight, the troops compelled the terrorists to retreat and abandon their weapons.

The post stated, “In the encounter, the troops recovered one PKM Machine Gun, 402 rounds of 7.62 mm x 54 NATO ammunition, and 110 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO”.

In a separate yet related operation, the troops apprehended three individuals suspected of gun-running in the Sukuk Community, situated in the Madagali Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Yakubu Musa, Marcus Ziri, and Ishakwu Kumba, were found in possession of various firearms and ammunition.

Musa was found with a locally-made Gun, a pistol, and 59 rounds of 7.62 mm x 39 ammunition, while Kumba was caught with two locally manufactured guns and 29 cartridges, and Ziri was discovered with a locally crafted gun,” the report added.

Furthermore, investigations uncovered that Musa had acquired an AK-47 rifle for N300,000 from an unidentified individual who is currently evading capture.
