Trump plans large detention centers for illegal immigrants before their expulsion

The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, plans the construction or expansion of large centers where illegal immigrants will be taken prior to his expulsion, according to CNN, which cites several unidentified sources with knowledge of these plans.

One of the options is to expand the so-called county prisons, says the chain, which does not specify where the new large centers would be, but assures that interior officials (Homeland Security) have already identified several cities, presumably near the border with Mexico.

He also points out that there are plans to buy large quantities of beds or mattresses to place the immigrants during the expulsion process.

For expulsions to take place, Trump will need to make the expulsions mandatory. arrests of undocumented immigrants, who are frequently released due to lack of federal resources to support them. To do this, I would be considering issuing an executive order.

The financing of the entire detention and expulsion plan is now presented as the main obstacle, and CNN assures that Trump’s advisors are exploring two avenues: one, redistribute funds from other federal agencies, and two, declare a “national emergency” to obtain funds from the Pentagon, something that Trump already did in his first term.

So far, no member of the president-elect’s team has spoken openly about all of these plans, and the transition team spokesperson, who will be spokesperson for the White House from January, Karoline Leavitt, He simply reminded CNN that Trump was elected with “the mandate to fulfill his campaign promises. And he will fulfill them.”

In his first era as president (2016-2020), Trump deported 1.5 million immigrants, a much smaller figure than the 2.9 million deported in Barack Obama’s first four-year term, and also lower than the 1.9 million in his second term, the network recalls.
