Iran has again attacked US bases in Jordan in retaliation for the previous bombings launched by Washington on the Persian country, according to the Revolutionary Guard in a statement. The attack targeted Camp Titin, a US Marine Corps base, with heavy ballistic missiles.
Iran thus reacts against the US bombings it received, the second attack in less than 48 hours after a month without any cross-attacks being reported.
Washington has expressed that it is going to attack “targets of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps”, without specifying which ones, while the elite body has assured that the bombings hit a residential house in Sirik, near the Strait of Hormuz, leaving several dead, without specifying how many, and at least 50 injured.
The consequences of the attack on Jordan have not been revealed, despite the fact that the Revolutionary Guard claimed to have destroyed infrastructure. Missiles launched from Iran two days earlier were intercepted, according to US and Jordanian security forces.
The US has justified its attack to counter Iran’s “attempts of aggression” “against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against US military service members deployed in the region.”
The first attack, which took place last Sunday, was directed against the Iranian island of Larak, from where Tehran was preparing to launch rockets loaded with sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz, according to Washington, in an attack in which two people died.
