Tragic incident in Ondo: APC Returning Officer Alaba Abe murdered


A shocking and devastating event occurred in Ward 10 of Akoko Southwest Local Council area of Ondo State, where Alaba Abe, the Returning Officer for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the governorship primaries held on April 20, was tragically assassinated by unidentified gunmen.

The heartbreaking incident unfolded on a Saturday night at around 9:00 p.m. right in front of Abe’s residence in Supare-Akoko within the council area.

Sources in the vicinity, speaking anonymously, disclosed that the assailants carried out a fatal ambush on Abe as he was on the verge of entering his house, resulting in his untimely death.

In response to the killing, Kayode Fasua, the Director of Information for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers, LACO-FS, urged the police authorities to ensure the safety and protection of its members against any potential threats from rival political factions.

Fasua fondly remembered Alaba Abe as a committed and efficient coordinator who tirelessly campaigned for the success of the election and the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Upon reaching out for comment, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed that an investigation has been launched to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

She stated, “The command is actively investigating the incident at Supare to uncover every detail surrounding the tragic event.”
