Tragic Accident on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway Claims One Life and Injures 6 Others


Confirmation has been received from the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, regarding a devastating accident along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway which resulted in one fatality and injuries to six individuals.

Sector Commander of FRSC in Ogun, Anthony Uga, verified the incident earlier today.

The accident took place at 7:10 am and involved two trucks and a tricycle.

The vehicles involved were a Sino truck bearing registration number FST 926 YA, a Howo truck identified as GSW 180 XA, and a Bajaj tricycle registered as KLE 876 KT.

According to the sector commander, seven individuals were part of the crash, with one casualty and six others sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

Uga attributed the crash to mechanical issues and excessive speed on the part of the Howo truck.

He mentioned, “The Howo truck collided with the Sino truck and tricycle from behind, all three vehicles were moving in the same direction.

Regrettably, the deceased was a pedestrian and the body has been handed over to the family. The survivors have been transported to the General Hospital for necessary medical attention,” he added.
