FCCPC Takes Action Against Abuja Chinese Supermarket

Located within the China General Chamber of Commerce in Abuja, the Abuja-based Chinese supermarket has been sealed by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission following allegations of discriminatory practices against Nigerians.

On Monday, FCCPC officials took action by shutting down the supermarket after conducting investigations and questioning Nigerian employees at the establishment.

During the visit, workers at the store revealed that the owner, a Chinese woman named Cindy Liu Bei, had fled the premises with her family at 8:26 am on Monday, as captured by the Closed-Circuit Television camera.

Upon receiving this information, FCCPC officials proceeded to close down the supermarket.

Prior to this enforcement action, NewsNow had earlier reported on Sunday about the controversial policy implemented by the supermarket, which restricted entry exclusively to Chinese nationals, thereby excluding Nigerians from accessing the facility.

This discriminatory policy generated significant backlash on social media platforms, with Nigerians expressing their disapproval of such treatment.
