An 85-year-old woman named Ilione Victoria tragically passed away after reportedly jumping from the balcony of an apartment on the 3rd floor of a four-storey building in which she lived with her daughter at No 18 Ilodibe Street, Awada, Anambra state on Tuesday, March 17th.
A statement released by SP Haruna Mohammed, the spokesperson of the state police command, reveals that the octogenarian was struggling with mental illness and had her movements restricted. At the time of the alleged incident, she was at home with her caregiver, one Judith Amumuche, aged 32 years.
Mohammed mentioned that before the police arrived, the victim’s daughter, Ikediaso Benedicta of 3-3 Housing Estate, Onitsha, reportedly removed the corpse to an unknown location, although bloodstains were observed at the scene.
He added that the caregiver and other witnesses at the scene are assisting police in investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
