President Tinubu Approves Extension of FCT Head of Service Tenure

President Bola Tinubu has granted the extension of service for Samuel Atang, the newly appointed Head of Service for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for an additional six months starting March 27.

A circular issued by the Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Chidi Amadi, in Abuja yesterday, announced the approval.

On the day of his 60th birthday, Atang received this approval which coincides with his retirement age.

Reports reveal that the extension is deemed necessary to ensure the stability and consolidation of the ongoing processes aimed at restructuring the administrative framework of the FCT Administration following the recent establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission.

The circular states, “Regarding the above subject, His Excellency, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has kindly permitted the extension of your service for a period of six months beginning on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, the day you turn sixty years old.

“This extension is based on the goal to stabilize and reinforce the ongoing processes to revamp the administrative setup of the FCT Administration, prompted by the recent inauguration of the FCT Civil Service Commission.”
