The Zamfara State House of Assembly Grants Six-Month Extension to LG Sole Administrators

Approval has been granted by the Zamfara State House of Assembly for a six-month extension to the tenure of sole administrators of the local government councils within the state.

After the special committee, led by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Adamu Aliyu Gummi, presented a report on the screening of the fourteen local government council sole administrators for confirmation, this extension was agreed upon.

Chief Press Secretary to the House, Comrade Bello Madaro Kurya, disclosed this information in a statement released to the press in Gusau, the state capital.

During the screening process, all fourteen local government interim administrators had appeared before the committee, as stated in the issued announcement.

On April 24, 2024, Governor Dauda Lawal, through the Secretary to the State Government, SSG Malam Abubakar M Nakwada, requested the House to confirm local government interim administrators for an additional six months as mandated by law.

Under the Speakership of Rt. Hon. Bi’yaminu Ismail Moriki, the House invited all Council Interim Administrators for a thorough cross-examination to ensure fairness and justice in the confirmation process, the statement noted.

Following extensive discussions, the Speaker announced the unanimous approval and confirmation by the House for the extension of the fourteen local government interim administrators for another six months, aligning with Governor Dauda Lawal’s request.

Speaker Moriki urged all council leaders to demonstrate effective and quality leadership in their respective local government areas to validate the trust placed in them.
