The US Army’s assault on an Iranian commercial ship continues to cause people to talk. In the last few hours, the video has come to light in which the US marines descend to the ship and the assault takes place. The document, published by the United States Central Command, shows how members of the navy depart from the USS Tripoli (LHA 7) by helicopter and transit over the Arabian Sea until they board and capture the Iranian ship M/V Touska.
First, members of the North American Army rappelled onto the ship after disabling the ship with their guided missile destroyer USS Spruance after issuing several warnings for six hours that, according to the US version, they did not comply with.
Iran denounces violation of ceasefire
On the other hand, Iran denounced that the US attack near the Strait of Hormuz represents a violation of the ceasefire between Tehran and Washington and said it had responded with drone attacks against US ships. The spokesman for Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a statement explaining that the US “attacked an Iranian commercial ship in the waters of the Sea of Oman,” “violating the ceasefire and committing an act of marine piracy.”
In the message, collected by the Iranian agency Tasnim, it explains that the US Army fired at the ship to disable its navigation system and that US soldiers boarded the boat. “After the US attack, Iranian forces also attacked US military ships with drones,” the statement added, without giving further details.
The Tehran Army also reported that the ship was a container ship that was traveling from China to Iran.
Trump defends that the ship tried to “get around” the naval bloc
Donald Trump himself claimed that the US Navy attacked and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship that attempted to pass through the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship called Touska, nearly 900 feet long and weighing the same as an aircraft carrier, attempted to circumvent our naval blockade, and it didn’t go well,” Trump said in a message on Truth Social.
Subsequently, the Central Command of the United States Armed Forces (Centcom), in charge of Army operations in the Middle East, stated in a statement that they issued “repeated warnings” for six hours, after which the American destroyer ordered the cargo ship’s machinery area to be evacuated and fired several shots to disable its propulsion.
