He US Supreme Court This Friday, it endorsed the law that stipulates the suspension of the use of the audiovisual platform TikTok on January 19 throughout the country by accepting as valid the reason given by the US authorities that point to the network as a threat to the security of Americans.
The US Government demands that TikTok break all its ties with its Chinese parent company, ByteDanceunderstanding that this relationship represents a threat to national security and that of Americans, whose data could end up in the hands of the Asian power without permission.
“TikTok offers a distinctive medium for expression”“But Congress has determined that divestment is necessary to address well-founded national security concerns regarding TikTok’s data collection practices and its relationship with a foreign adversary.”
Thus, the Supreme Court understands that the provisions that the company has tried to challenge “they do not violate the petitioners’ rights” to freedom of expression as stated in the first amendment of the North American Constitution.
