The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has launched new attacks against Iran, a day after US President Donald Trump ended the truce between the two countries, with the aim of degrading Tehran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

“By order of the Commander in Chief, US Central Command forces have begun carrying out additional strikes against Iran with the goal of further reducing its ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” the statement added.
The Iranian Mehr news agency has reported explosions in the city of Bandar Abbas, located on the coast of the Strait of Hormuz, where defenses against attacks were activated. Likewise, he pointed out that the port facilities and the maritime control tower in the city of Chabahar were being attacked, while there has been movement of combat aircraft over Isfahan.
Trump’s warning from NATO
Trump had warned from Ankara, where he met with NATO allies, about possible new attacks on a day in which he also declared the ceasefire and the memorandum of understanding between both countries broken, with the future of the negotiations in the air.
“I’m going to give them a little warning: we’re going to hit them hard tonight (…). For me it’s over. I don’t want to negotiate with them, because they are trash. They are sick people, led by sick, bad, violent people. If they had a nuclear weapon, they would use it.”
Second wave of attacks
This is the second night of attacks on Iran, after US forces reported bombing more than 80 targets with precision munitions last morning. The Persian country, for its part, denounced that the attacks launched by the United States on its territory constitute a “clear violation” of the permanent ceasefire agreement, agreed on June 17 between Washington and Tehran.
Hours after these attacks, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility for 85 attacks against US bases in countries in the Persian Gulf, in which its naval and air forces used missiles and drones, according to the state agency IRNA.
