The terrible case that has shocked Scotland: a police officer abused and raped a multitude of women for 14 years before committing suicide

Shock in Scotland due to an unprecedented case. A BBC investigation unit revealed this Thursday the case of a Scottish police officer who raped and abused more than eight women, several of them prostitutes, for 14 years before being discovered.

The perpetrator, named Alan Greer, ended up committing suicide last May after all the crimes committed were discovered. At 47 years old, the agent was married and had a son. He began his career on the force in 2009 and, during that time, Greer committed all the crimes until he was discovered by a complaint filed a month before his death.

14 years with a double life

The perpetrator committed suicide last May after the police broke into his home and discovered numerous evidence of his double life and his alleged criminal activities.

It all started when the first attack came to light last April. A woman reported an apparent assault at her home to a Glasgow police station, where she was treated by Greer, who later showed up at the home with the excuse of “expanding the investigations.” The rape occurred there, and the woman was not able to report the incident until 14 years later.

A complaint that sparked an internal investigation in the anti-corruption unit of the Glasgow police last April. Upon identifying Greer’s name, the agents found that he had entered the police database to consult cases of assaulted women in which he had not intervened as an officer.

When the police investigation had enough evidence, a patrol went to his home and seized a laptop and seven mobile phones. In them, the author stored thousands of photos and videos of prostitutes whom he had abused and, therefore, had filed rape complaints.

There could be more victims

Despite detecting numerous complaints, the investigations revealed how the agent had used the services of hundreds of these women over the years, and everything indicates that the number of victims could be higher, since there are still thousands of images to be processed.

That is why the police have asked citizens to file a complaint if they believe they have been victims. No one around him suspected Greer’s double life, as reported by the Scottish police, who insist on the impossibility of having started an investigation earlier due to the lack of signs.
