The projected full operation of Port Harcourt and Warri refineries in 2024 according to Ifeanyi Ubah

According to Ifeanyi Ubah, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), there are plans in place for the full operation of two refineries – Port Harcourt and Warri by the conclusion of 2024.

He emphasized that efforts have already been made to achieve this goal and added that the Kaduna Refinery will also be operational by the end of the following year.

Once these plants are completed and with the addition of supply from the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery, Nigeria will be positioned to meet its domestic fuel demands.

Furthermore, the senator urged the federal government and other stakeholders to collaborate in establishing modular refineries to enhance the country’s domestic crude oil refining capacity.

Regarding his mandate, Ubah pledged to ensure that Nigeria’s refineries are operational and running efficiently. He stated, “By the end of this current year, two refineries will be fully operational.”

He continued, “Additionally, the Kaduna refinery is expected to commence operations by the end of the upcoming year.”

Ubah assured Nigerians of his unwavering commitment to ensure the refineries are operational within the set timeframe. To achieve this, a technical team has been established to conduct bi-weekly inspections of the refineries and meet the prescribed target.
