The Premier League may secure six spots in the UEFA Champions League for the upcoming season

For the 2024/2025 Champions League season, the Premier League has the possibility of having six teams participating, pending outcomes leading up to the end of the current season.

In the next season, an innovative ‘Swiss-style’ opening phase will be introduced to the Champions League format.

This new format will feature 36 teams competing, an increase from the 32 teams in the ongoing season.

With the expansion, two leagues will now have five clubs qualifying based on their league positions.

England is among the leagues competing for the fifth spot, awarded to the national league with the best UEFA coefficient performance.

There is also a chance for a sixth English team to qualify. The Europa League champions will earn a spot in the next Champions League season, and West Ham, currently outside of the Premier League’s top five, is still in contention in the Europa League.

According to reports from The Mail, if West Ham secures fifth place and wins the Europa League, the team finishing sixth in the Premier League would also gain entry to the Champions League. However, if one of the top four teams clinches victory in the Champions League or Europa League, the additional spot would not be reallocated.
