For pedestrians, the first phase of Olodo Bridge in Oyo State was officially opened by the government on Tuesday. It was done in an effort to alleviate the struggles faced by commuters in that area.

The government emphasized that the bridge’s opening to vehicular traffic will occur in the coming weeks.

During an inspection of the project on Tuesday, Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure, and Transport, Professor Dahud Kehinde Shangodoyin, expressed that Governor Seyi Makinde’s dedication to the citizens’ welfare is evident in the opening of the bridge for pedestrians.

He mentioned that the other side of the bridge will also become accessible to vehicles and pedestrians by the end of May.

He stated, “The completion of this bridge and its utilization by our people has been directed by the governor.

“Today, we are thrilled to open it for pedestrians. The joy on people’s faces as they already embrace this road is quite evident.

“What remains now is finishing the work on this road and allowing vehicular movement. It is guaranteed that one side of the bridge will be accessible for both vehicles and pedestrians by the end of May.

“Another promise has been fulfilled. His Excellency has made sure that this project was completed so pedestrians can benefit from it temporarily, while motorists will follow suit in approximately two weeks.”
