Assurance from Akpabio: Nigerian Workers to Have Improved Welfare on May Day

Assurances have been made by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, that Nigerian workers will soon receive better working conditions and a living wage through collaborative efforts between the National Assembly and the Executive arm of government.

The Senate President conveyed this message through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, as a congratulatory note to workers on the occasion of May Day 2024.

In his statement, Akpabio commended the remarkable qualities exhibited by Nigerian workers, emphasizing their patriotism, hard work, resilience, and commitment to duty.

Expressing solidarity with the workers, Akpabio highlighted the Nigerian worker’s enduring spirit that resonates across the nation.

Addressing the theme of this year’s Workers Day, which focuses on ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate, Akpabio affirmed the National Assembly’s dedication to improving working conditions for Nigerian workers, ensuring no one works in deplorable environments.

He reiterated the commitment of the 10th National Assembly to enact legislation that safeguards the interests of workers, provides conducive workplace environments, and guarantees fair remuneration.

In extending his well-wishes for International Labour Day, Akpabio lauded the virtues of patriotism, hard work, and dedication displayed by workers, assuring them that their sacrifices will not be in vain.

He reassured that challenging times are temporary and will soon be overcome by the unwavering resilience of the Nigerian worker.
