The UN General Assembly has left one of the images of the day after the Cuban delegation left the room where the summit was taking place this Tuesday.
The decision came after the president of the United States, Donald Trump, assured that Cuba is “an absolutely failed state”, stating that the communist regime “will end up falling.”
“It is a State that has completely failed. It is failing like never before and will end up falling,” Trump declared during his speech at the High Level Week of the UN General Assembly.
After these statements, the entire Cuban delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, stood up and left the plenary session, an image that has gone around the world and has been spread on social networks.
A change of course in Cuba
The US president stated during his speech that his Administration “seeks a fundamental change in Cuba.” “My administration also seeks a fundamental change in the situation in Cuba, where the communist regime is under great pressure, the greatest it has ever been subjected to,” he stated.
According to the president’s words, this transformation is being led by his Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. Likewise, Trump has taken the opportunity to accuse the Cuban Government of being a “communist regime” and of maintaining links with radical left-wing groups and communist organizations in his country such as the Communist Party of the United States, the Antifa group, which he designated as a terrorist organization, and the Democratic Socialists of America party, the party of the mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani.
Finally, Donald Trump concluded his speech by assuring that communism “will never” come to the United States. “Communism will never come to the United States, but freedom will come to Cuba,” he stressed.
The truth is that since his return to the presidency, Trump has promoted a campaign of political and economic pressure against Cuba with the aim of financially suffocating the Díaz-Canel Government and forcing a change as soon as possible. Therefore, this is one more movement to tighten the rope and achieve its goal set in 2025.
